Mission Statement

  • Since 1996, with a mission to: Equip young adults for Christian ministry and to be a resource to the church in the area of praise & worship and youth ministry.

Statement of Faith

We believe in one God,
   the Father, the Almighty,
   maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
   the only Son of God,
   eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
   true God from true God,
   begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
     he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
     and was made man.
   For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
     in accordance with the Scriptures;
     he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

History

Because there was a need for youth and music leadership in camps and churches, Tim Price invited some others to travel with him for the summer of 1996. What was supposed to be a summer of learning and growing with a team of four people blew up beyond our imagination! The goal that summer was to teach four people about ministry - as it turned out, all four of us learned by doing! We put ourselves in a place where God could use us and God did! The team didn't have a name that first summer, but we took part in many camps and churches.

It was amazing to see what God did with a team that first summer. Many more youth and adults responded to a team approach and we were able to accomplish so much more than we could individually. The Lord opened many doors that summer. So much so, that they next summer, the team was officially named - Harvest Ministry Teams - and the ministry began. We took applications from young people around the state of Illinois and sent a Harvest Team! And it fit - carrying the message of the Gospel to a field ripe for Harvest!

Since that first year, Harvest Ministry Teams have grown to a year round full-time ministry of providing praise & worship leadership and youth ministry resources. Over 160 people have been involved in summer teams and weekend ministry teams. Harvest has recorded eight worship CD's and has been officially incorporated as a non-for-profit training ministry.

Many, many students have been affected by Harvest Ministry, both as team members and as conference and camp attendees. It has been truly amazing to see God work.

Harvest has ministered in many different denominations around Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota, Washington State, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. And we are excited about future opportunities to serve!

Harvest FAQ's

What is Harvest?
Harvest is a non-for-profit training ministry with a mission to equip young adults for ministry and provide a praise and worship resource to the church.

When did Harvest start?
Harvest started during the summer of 1996 when Tim Price and three other students committed to traveling and leading music at camps, churches and youth events. God blessed that summer of ministry and the commitment of the young adults who served. New teams have formed each summer since, with over 60 people serving on Harvest Ministry Teams.

What can Harvest do at our event?
During the summer Harvest usually leads the praise and worship for camps and youth conferences. The Harvest Team will stay the whole week, provide the sound system and lead the worship times for the services and other gatherings during the day. Besides serving as music leaders, Harvest is also willing and able to serve in other capacities such as seminar leaders, small group leaders, and other forms of relational ministry.

What does Harvest do during the school year?
The Harvest Worship Band has been formed during the school year to provide praise and worship music primarily for youth conferences around the midwest. This team, led by Tim Price, is a combination of Harvest Worship Band Core Team members and other summer team members who take part on any given weekend.
